What Exactly is an Immersion Blender
Some say that the hand blenders and immersion blenders are same, but some don’t agree with that. Generally, both of them look the same and do the same functions. Sometimes a hand mixer may get confused with a blender, and that’s when the differences also emerge. These two do not differ from each other at all. Read on to know more about the blenders.
A hand blender comes with many functions. Whipping and mixing batters are two functions it does best. These blenders are usually equipped with whisks to whip creams or whisk eggs. The chopping blade of the equipment can be used to make smoothies, and mix cake batters. You can even puree vegetables or fruits using it. It is perfect for blending soups to the right consistency.
One feature buyers look for in blenders is if they can be cleaned and stored easily. This is one feature an immersion blender has. To clean it, you just need to rinse it in warm water. You can even remove the whisk or blade to wash it thoroughly. On the other hand, cleaning the regular blender is a time consuming task. Moreover, these blenders do not take up much space in your kitchen. If your kitchen is too small, you can opt for a wall mountable hand blender.
One distinct feature of this blender is you get to mix your ingredients using any kind of container. It is also safe to use a glass container in it. Also, it will not leave any scratch marks on the sides of the container. Not to mention the time you save because mess is minimized. However, make sure you use a deep bowl to do the mixing to avoid splatters.
A regular blender or food processor needs to be placed on a flat surface to operate, whereas an immersion blender do not need any space as you can hold it in your hand. When a regular blender needs a power outlet, this blender can even work on battery power.
You will need only very limited space to store them compared to big blenders that take up majority of your bench and cabinet spaces. Its compact design also allows you to take it anywhere, and can be used easily for a quick smoothie or vegetable puree. For example, campers prefer it to make an instant drink. On the other hand, its bigger counterparts are not portable, and cannot be charged using a battery. It may look small but it operates like a big blender. It can chop vegetables and crush ice just like big blenders. It is also very durable, and will last for years.
Another major difference is the price. A hand blender is priced at $100 or even lower while the regular blender will cost you more than hundreds of dollars.
If you want to puree soups, you must look for a powerful blender. There are blenders that have cords and there are also cordless. There is a wide selection of different designs. However, your selection of hand blenders or immersion blenders highly depends on the purpose.
