Taco Recipes From Authentic Mexican Cuisine

Authentic Mexican food is partially known for its taco recipes. Inside Mexico itself, you’ll find taco stands on the street corners of every city and town worth it’s weight in chiles (that is to say: every single one!) and abroad, tacos have become the quintessential Mexican food, with Mexican food restaurants in the US to Britain to Thailand and everywhere in-between serving tacos religiously, every day to their guests.

Plus there are many various taco recipes that have become famous around the world, from the classic Baja shrimp taco recipe to the more traditional but incredibly popular tacos de pollo (chicken tacos), to steak tacos of every kind. For Mexicans living in their country, few would argue that tacos al pastor (marinated pork tacos) wear the crown as the king taco recipe in the country.

Inside authentic Mexican cuisine, you also have these similar dishes called “fajitas”, which are essentially tacos that are served with the tortillas on the side that you can roll up in to your own little tacos or just eat without tortillas as a simple, delicious dish. There are a lot of authentic Mexican recipes like this, where you get to take the ingredients served and then make your own variation of the recipe’s dish.

Tacos are always made with corn or flour soft tortillas that work as a roll to hold in their contents, and then you’ll see that they contain layer of their main ingredient (ex: pork, chicken, etc) inside, followed by a few other things like rice, beans, cucumber, onion, radish, and–without fail–a Mexican salsa of some kind. When served with tacos, salsa taquera and pico de gallo almost always occupy a spot in any reputable taco stand’s salsa bar on the table.

An interesting side note is that adding cheese to a taco turns it into what is known as a quesadilla–another commonly-served dish inside Mexico. The cheese often blends in very well with chiles and shrimp or fish or any meat you use in the taco, and contributes a flavor that a lot of diners find very tasty! If you’re a fan of eating tacos, you’ll very likely also savor the pleasure that cooking authentic Mexican recipes brings your guests, if you’re in the mood to experiment and you love Mexican food. Well that’s it. I hope you enjoy tacos, and keep poking around in Mexico’s cuisine!
