Proper Usage and Storage for CO2 Cylinders
Various industries like medicine, aviation, military, sports, recreation and many others make use of disposable gas cylinders. Inflation, propulsion, cooling, pressurization and mechanical energy all have a need for it. Beverage dispensing, wine preservation, carbonation systems are a few things in which these gas cylinders are used in the food industry. Preparation of both soda water and whipped cream needs these gas cartridges for operating the soda siphon and the cream whisk. Disposable gas-filled cartridges used in food application must comply with the HACCP food safety system imposed by the Food and Drug Administration. HACCP or Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point is a preventive approach that checks and analyzes the production process from start to finish including the procurement of raw materials.
For soda water preparation, you would need HACCP certified carbon dioxide cylinders. Make sure you don’t harm your health and only use products with the HACCP certificate. The HACCP approval is in terms of quality and cleanliness and so the customers are assured of getting a 100% approved gas cylinder. The CO2 gas cartridge can be used along with the soda siphon to make soda water safely. A gas cylinder used for the siphon contains 8 grams of pure carbon dioxide gas, which is just perfect to charge 1 liter of water while the gas cylinder used for beer dispensing systems contains 16 grams of pure CO2. Its important to follow the instructions given by the manufacturer for using gas filled cylinders.
The gas-filled disposable gas cylinders used for the soda siphon and cream whipper are of the same shape and size. Use the right type of gas that is required by your device. Carbon dioxide is used for the soda siphon to make soda water while nitrous oxide is used for the cream whipper in the preparation of fresh whipped cream. To be on the safe side, use the same branded soda siphon and gas cylinders. The same quality and standards are assured in products with the same brand. There are two types of valve used in the charger holder – the screw in and the snap on type. The gas cylinder must fit the soda siphon well.
The siphon and carbon dioxide cylinders make the preparation of soda water easy. To keep the gadgets working for a long time it is essential that one follows the instructions given. Secure the cover of the siphon bottle tightly once you have filled it with water as instructed. When inserting the CO2 gas cartridge into the charger holder, make sure that you are holding it straight towards the holder. The threading should not be seen and therefore the CO2 gas cartridge must be screwed in with great care. Ensure that the job is properly done or else there may be a leakage of gas. It will be adequate if the bottle is shaken at least five times vigorously. Ensure that you screw the cap back on to the charger holder when the empty cartridge is removed. It is important to get rid of the empty cartridge the proper way. These are 100% recyclable.
A small box contains 10 CO2 disposable gas cylinders but you can also get packs of 25s. Always take care that the gas cylinders are in a secure place beyond the reach of children. They should be kept away from heat maybe in your pantry. Make sure that you do not put the empty gas cartridges with the unused gas-filled cylinders. Ensure that you segregate the N2O gas cylinders and the CO2 cylinders as they look the same and might confuse you.
