The basic quality of a pizzelle recipe is one of its charms. This makes it easy to change up when you want to. So if you usually make cinnamon pizzelle and want to try a different flavor, you can do so without having to search for a new and different cookie recipe to test and try out.

Flavoring Oil –Highly concentrated edible flavoring oils can usually be found in a well-stocked supermarket. But if its licorice taste puts you off, then you can easily find a different flavor that will work just as well.

While flavoring oil adds to the taste of the cookie, it is not an essential ingredient in a typical pizzelle recipe. If all you want is a plain vanilla cookie, then leave this oil out. Leaving it out won’t mess up the dough.

Extracts –A lot of times, a pizzelle recipe includes vanilla extract. Unlike the flavoring oil, the extract is not an optional ingredient. So if you want to change the flavor, you can’t leave this ingredient out.

But you can switch the vanilla for a different flavor of extract altogether. This is a good solution for when you can’t find the flavor you want in an oil. This also works as a great solution when you don’t have a source for finding the oils or you ran out unexpectedly.

A variety of extract flavors are available at the grocery store or even online, creating a totally different cookie with just a simple change. Look for something that isn’t so traditional, such as banana or coconut extract. And if you want chocolate cookies, look for some chocolate extract.

If you want to create something really different and unique, try changing both the oil flavor and the extract flavor. Test and experiment to find your favorite flavor combination. You could gain a reputation for your unique hazelnut orange or chocolate mint pizzelle. Be imaginative and come up with your own creations.
