Keeping a Clean Grill
Keeping a grill clean can be a bit of a chore. You can make sure you minimize the work involved by making it a constant process, however. What you want to avoid is not cleaning the grill after using it. You should do this every time. Some types of grills have certain advantages over others in this regard.
A charcoal grill requires that you clean it out every time you use it, which is a great thing for encouraging yourself to keep up on the maintenance. You’ll want to keep the wire brush handy to remind yourself to give it a good scrubbing when you’re done cooking on it. This ensures that the items you cooked don’t harden over time and become even harder to remove after the fact.
If you have a gas grill, it’s sometimes a bit harder to remember to clean it off after every use. You can create a huge mess for yourself by not taking care of it. Fortunately, the only things you’ll really need to remedy the situation are a wire brush and some soap and water. These will remove just about anything from a grill, but there may be a lot of elbow grease standing between you and removing the hamburger grease!
If you have a stainless steel grill, remember that a wire brush will scratch it up horribly. These require special cleaners. You can find them at most any home improvement store or at an outdoor store. Never use abrasives to clean these grills at all. Particularly if you have a grill that’s of a lower quality stainless, you’ll regret using the wrong materials as soon as you take a look at the scratches they’ve caused.
Cleaning a grill is usually done with soap, water and a wire brush. Be wary of using anything that isn’t specifically made for grills if you need something stronger to get rid of grease and grime. Remember to scrub your grill down a lot at the end of the season. This ensures that your grill is in great shape and ready to go at the beginning of the summer season and that you don’t have grease and food particles on there that will never come off.
